The Rotary Club of Mitchelton is a part of Rotary District 9600. There are 63 clubs in the district including clubs in the Solomon Islands, Nauru and New Guinea.
The Rotary Club of Mitchelton was formed in 1967 to service the larger Mitchelton area, celebrating 50 years in 2017.
There are over 1.2 million Rotarians around the world, and what began as the very first true networking organization is now a very big social organization that relies on people to make it what it is.
There are a wide range of Rotary inspired programs our club is involved in, many revolve around our young people too, some examples;
RYDA: Rotary Youth Driver Awareness – School visits to educate our new drivers.
RYLA: Rotary youth Leadership Award – A camp to hone leadership skills.
RYPEN: Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment. – Usually held over a weekend.
DIK: Donations in Kind – Collection & distribution of medical & educational supplies.
Polio: Eradication of Polio world wide.
RAM: Rotarians against Malaria.
…and many other programs nationally and internationally.
Our club is also involved in local Community events and fund raisers to assist others.
The Rotary club of Mitchelton is open to membership to anyone who would like to give back to our community in some way. That can be as little as a couple of hours a month.
We also encourage as many people to become involved if only to assist us when hands are needed for a special fundraiser or project.
We consider our club a family friendly club, with the pressures of modern day living in mind, we have special family memberships and alternatives for those that wish to be a part of Rotary, but have time issues or commitments.
