Mitchelton Rotary would like to give a warm welcome to all 41 of Australia's newest citizens taking the pledge at Arana Leagues Club this Australia Day.
Mitchelton Rotary co-ordinates a Citizenship Ceremony each year held at the Arana Leagues Club. With the ups and downs of Covid 19 this year we were unsure till the last minute how many candidates would be able to take the pledge!
With restrictions eased and the sweet sounds of the Jubilee Singers welcoming the attendees as they commenced their journey our club President, Dean Parham, welcomed and congratulated the candidates while acknowledging the great work Rotarians do in the community and internationally. Club member Don Biffin did a fantastic job as MC and kept the audience entertained.
A big thank you to MP Tim Mander who was the Presiding Officer and also to Alejandra Jimenez of Mexico, who gave the response on behalf of the new citizens. Some very moving words that bought tears to all our eyes.
