Claire Maizonnier

Deployment with DFAT Crisis Response Team and Australian Fire and Rescue teams to the Turkiye Earthquake February 2023
Claire Maizonnier is from Bellingen, NSW. She studied at the University of Queensland, and graduated as Valedictorian from her Arts/Social Science dual degree in 2013. She received a Rotary Peace Fellowship to study a two-year Master's in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Uppsala in Sweden between 2014 and 2016. She has worked in the fields of international development, international relations and diplomacy, crisis response and trade.
Claire worked in Peru with a local NGO in 2013 and as a United Nations intern in 2015 in New York. In 2017, She entered the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as a Policy Graduate. In 2018, Claire was posted to the Australian High Commission in Ghana, representing Australia as Third Secretary for a three-year tour. In this role she was responsible for a wide variety of duties, from management of the Australian Aid program, to reporting on political developments in countries of accreditation. She provided consular assistance to help Australians return home during the COVID-19 Pandemic and has been deployed as part of DFAT's Crisis Response Team. She is currently working in the trade area of DFAT, working remotely from Brisbane while raising a young family.
